Directions
The Carved Figures Trail starts at the Hartkaiser mountain station, which can be easily reached with the Hartkaiserbahn cable car from Ellmau. Once at the top,
the hike begins away from the panorama restaurant via the marked Rübezahl adventure trail (no. 3a). This leads past the Hartkaisersee lake on the left and through the middle of the enchanted evening adventure playground of Ellmi's Zauberwelt. The impressive, 4-5 meter high Rübezahlwald ghosts line the path, which leads steadily downhill under the Hartkaiserbahn cable car to the Jägerhütte snack station and on to the Ledereralm.
After two wide hairpin bends through the picturesque meadow landscape, the Rübezahl Alm, idyllically situated by a forest lake, appears. From the Rübezahl Alm, you can either walk back down to the valley or take the Hartkaiserbahn (middle station).
