Kreuzjöchl lake hiking trail
Westendorf
The popular panoramic hiking trail offers breathtaking views of the Hohe Tauern, the Kitzbühel and Zillertal Alps. It takes you past the idyllic Kreuzjöchlsee lake and the Anna Chapel and on across more beautiful alpine pastures. Here you can experience why the grassy mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps are so popular.
- Starting point: Alpenrosenbahn mountain station
- Pure walking time: 4 - 5 hours
- Level: medium (partially barrier-free)
- Strecke: 12 km
Directions
We use the Alpenrosenbahn as an ascent aid. From the Talkaser, we hike along the road for approx. 200 m to the signpost at the Höhningscharte. There we turn left and follow the high-level hiking trail to the Brechhornhaus, Kreuzjöchlsee and Anna Chapel. After a rest at the Kreuzjöchlsee or Annakapelle, the trail leads us via the Fleidingalm along the forest road back to our starting point at the Talkaser. We then take the Alpenrosenbahn cable car back down into the valley. This route is also a beautiful Nordic walking route. An additional option would be to climb the Gampenkogel from the Einködlscharte. You return to the Kreuzjöchlsee lake via the south ridge.
Possible combinations
- The hiking trail is a circular route and can be hiked either from the Talkaser mountain station towards Fleidingalm or towards Höhningerscharte. Or you can take the variant via the Gampenkogel at the Einködlscharte.
