Going am Wilden Kaiser

Tradition is alive and well in Going and, as a climbing area steeped in history, the proximity to the Wilder Kaiser is particularly noticeable. The village square with its baroque church and spectacular panoramic view of the Kaiser mountains is one of the most beautiful in Tyrol. This is probably why it is also the filming location for the TV series "Der Bergdoktor" and forms the backdrop for the handicraft market in summer. The nature around the village is particularly relaxing in winter, with snowshoe hikes on full moon nights, idyllic winter trails and natural toboggan runs.

Astberg winter hiking trail
From the Astbergbahn valley station in Going, walk along the road towards the center of Ellmau. You can also start your hike from here. In the center, head towards Ellmau parish church and turn left uphill towards Treichlhof/ Jezz Alm in the Kirchbichl district. From the Jezz Alm, a snow-covered winter path leads over to the Astbergbahn mountain station. Here you can ski back down into the valley.
