Directions
You start at the tourist information office in Ellmau and leave the village via Kapellenweg. At the junction to Kapellenpark, continue straight ahead and cross the ski meadow in the direction of Going, where you walk briefly through a residential area. Directly after the Astbergbahn valley station, turn right and follow trail no. 8a and the Lanzenweg in the direction of Going. This leads you directly to the church square. From there, continue along the Söllnerweg until trail no. 7 branches off to the right in the direction of Astberg.
At first, the path leads gently uphill across a meadow, then gradually becomes a little steeper. You alternate between a root path and a forest road through the forest. Leave the Hollenauer Kreuz snack station on your right and continue uphill on the forest road until you finally reach the Astbergsee lake via a forest path "from behind". A fantastic view of the Wilder Kaiser awaits you there - the perfect reward! Here you have reached the highest point of the tour, from now on it's all downhill: via the forest path that forms the toboggan run in winter, through the Ellmau district of Vetterstätt to the Marienkapelle chapel and finally through the chapel park back to the village to the tourist information office.
