Ellmau

The "mountain doctor village" at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser is not only home to the well-known TV series. Nature has given Ellmau an impressive panorama and the huts and slopes between the Northern Kitzbühel Alps and the Kaiser Mountains are also the setting for many other film and music productions. Ellmau is always active and with its many leisure activities - guided themed hikes, e-biking, golf, swimming - is one of the most attractive tourist resorts in Tyrol. At the Ellmauer Skinacht there is also a party on the slopes in winter and tobogganing fun ensures a good mood in the snow.

Astberg winter hiking trail
From the Astbergbahn valley station in Going, walk along the road towards the center of Ellmau. You can also start your hike from here. In the center, head towards Ellmau parish church and turn left uphill towards Treichlhof/ Jezz Alm in the Kirchbichl district. From the Jezz Alm, a snow-covered winter path leads over to the Astbergbahn mountain station. Here you can ski back down into the valley.

Take the Hartkaiserbahn cable car in Ellmau up to the mountain station and take a short circular route through the forest. Pass the Kaiserexpress chairlift and head downhill towards the Jägerhütte. Continue on to the Rübezahl Alm. The huts are located directly on pistes 80 and 80a and are an ideal meeting point for hikers and skiers.
