As the oldest village, Brixen gave the valley its name. In contrast to many other Alpine valleys, Brixental Valley does not end in a valley head, but is open on both sides. It connects the Inntal valley in the west with the Kitzbühel region in the east.

The charming village of Brixen im Thale is nestled in gentle grassy mountains with extensive Alpine pastures in the middle of Brixental Valley, around 10 minutes by car from the famous town of Kitzbühel. In summer, Brixen im Thale offers a leisure facility with adventure pool, swimming lake, beach volleyball court, Kneipp facility, tennis courts and an idyllic fishing pond. The Filzalmsee on Hochbrixen has developed into a crowd-puller with many attractions to play and discover. It is also the starting point for many wonderful alpine and themed hikes.
