Erl
A genuine Tyrolean village right on the Bavarian-Tyrolean border. The bold architecture of the Passsionsspielhaus rises against the sky as a landmark of the village - a link between mountain and plain. At 470 to 1600 m above sea level, Erl lies directly on the Bavarian-Tyrolean border.
Passion plays have a long tradition in the Alpine region, and Erl is no exception. The Passion Play House in Erl is the performance venue for the Erl Passion Play - the building has become a landmark of Erl with its bold and striking shape. However, it is not only the Passion Play that is performed here, but also many other cultural events, including the famous Tyrolean Festival Erl.
